Finding Your New Home

After you have decided on area and price, you will need to determine the difference between needs and wants. This is easily done by creating a list of amenities you will require your next home to have. Be open to looking at all homes in your price range if need be. Don’t miss seeing your dream home just because it does not have all of the things you are looking for.

DRIVING BY:

This is a great way to familiarize yourself with a neighborhood. Remember that you cannot eliminate a home based on outside appearance alone. Many times a rough exterior means that all improvements to the home have been done inside. The opposite of this also occurs. You may become very excited about a home based on its outside condition only to be very disappointed once inside. Keep an open mind about a property until you have seen it inside and out.

OPEN HOUSES:

Once we are working together there is really no need to attend an open house. Why not have me schedule a private showing so that we can view the home without other parties present. If you must go to an open house there are some basic rules you must follow. We can discuss this in more detail after we begin working with each other.

MLS SHOPPING:

This is probably how we will find your next home. Once we have decided to work together we will enter your search parameters into my computer. Should you find a home before we do chances are that it is not within your search criteria.

LOOKING AT HOMES:

We will look at homes when it is convenient for you. We will set up the appointments based on your time parameters. Please be on time because the showing times will be close together. We will look at all of the homes that we are scheduled to see even if you are not interested from the outside. The reason for this is twofold. Even the worst home will have some characteristics that you like, and it is beneficial for me to learn all of these preferences early on in the process. It is also important that you compare all homes in an area so as to gain a perspective on price vs. condition.
